Golden Gate Physical Therapy is an outpatient physical therapy clinic providing a diverse professional and eclectic approach to rehabilitation. Our clinic nurtures relationships with some of the best providers of medical and therapeutic services, and our highly qualified physical therapists are all licensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California.
Adrian Carvalho
PT, MPT, CSCS, Cert. MDT
Adrian received his BS in Kinesiology from UC Davis and his MA in Physical Therapy from Mt. St. Mary’s College in Santa Monica. He is CSCS certified and McKenzie certified (Cert. McKenzie Method®). He also holds a Certification in Spinal Manipulative Therapy (HVLAT) from the Spinal Manipulation Institute and CrossFit. Adrian has had extensive training in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® , Myofascial Decompression Techniques, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and TRX system. He has taken over 25 continuing education courses ranging from current concepts in ACL rehab to manual therapy of the spine and sports-specific exercises for throwing athletes.
A college football player himself, Adrian has treated a number of professional athletes, such as Mark Grieb, John McEnroe, and Michael Chang. He has also been a host-site physical therapist for the PGA Pebble Beach Pro-Am. In addition, Adrian has been a guest lecturer at St. Ignatius, Lowell, and University high schools and San Francisco State University.
Adrian grew up in both Hawaii and California and loves the beach, surfing, and visiting his family on the islands every year with his wife, Kristen, and two children, Kate and Joey.
Jona Lee
PT, DPT, MFDc
Jona received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. As a therapist, Jona looks forward to utilizing a mix of manual techniques and exercise to help restore function and achieve patient centered goals. She believes that therapy is a collaborative effort between the therapist and patient to create a personalized plan of care.
She is certified in Myofascial Decompression (MFDc), holds Level 1 certification in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), and has completed multiple courses through the McKenzie Institute (MDT) as she works toward full MDT certification. Jona has also taken specialized coursework in running and gait analysis, as well as spinal manipulation, to better support active individuals and athletes.
Jona is originally from the Chicago area and has enjoyed spending her free time exploring the Bay Area. She likes to hike and try new restaurants with friends in her free time.
Patrice (Patty) Rock
PT, DPT, MFDc
Patrice is a native San Franciscan who was drawn to physical therapy through her love of sports at a young age. Her education started with a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Nevada, Reno. She then received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. Patty enjoys collaborating with patients for efficient, individualized and effective treatment plans. She incorporates manual techniques and specific exercises to get patients back to doing what they love! She strives to use evidence-based practices with exercise progression, Myofascial Decompression techniques, and Spinal Manipulation. She has completed courses with the Mckenzie Institute (MDT), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Fall Prevention, and Athlete Movement Systems Analysis to further her knowledge base to provide well rounded patient care.
In her free time, Patty enjoys being active. She can be found outside running in the Presidio, hiking throughout the Bay Area, cooking, and exploring new (and old) restaurants.
Lily Andres
PT, DPT
Lily is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with a background as a Division I collegiate soccer goalkeeper and a strong foundation in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, where she worked with a wide range of athletes and active individuals.
Her approach to physical therapy emphasizes active, individualized care focused on movement quality, strength development, and progressive return to activity. She incorporates skilled manual therapy when appropriate to address mobility restrictions, manage pain, and improve movement, while prioritizing exercise-based rehabilitation for lasting results.
She enjoys working with runners, yogis, field and court athletes, and active adults, blending evidence-based rehabilitation, manual therapy, and performance-focused strength training to support both recovery and future athletic goals.
When she’s not in the clinic she enjoys soaking up the sun, weightlifting, Lagree, cooking up new recipes and snuggling with her perfect English Bulldog Pudge!!
Susie Lunardi
PT, DPT
Susie is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) specializing in orthopedic and sports rehabilitation for active adults. She earned her DPT from New York University and holds a B.S. in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. Her approach integrates manual therapy, movement retraining, and strength-based rehabilitation to reduce pain, improve performance, and build long-term resilience.
She emphasizes individualized care grounded in biomechanics and motor control. Her advanced training includes strength and conditioning (CSCS), kettlebell training (RKC), and performance systems (XPS, DSPCC), along with certifications in Active Release Technique (ART), Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), and instrument-assisted soft tissue methods. She also has additional training in running analysis, yoga, and nutrition.
Susie has worked with patients ranging from active individuals to high-level performers, including professional dancers, endurance athletes, and strength athletes. Her experience treating performers from New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet informs her approach to elite performance and return-to-stage care.
Originally from the Bay Area, she recently returned to San Francisco after practicing in New York City. Outside the clinic, she enjoys strength training, traveling, and spending time with her family.
